Sorry Chaps
Here is one for you. Spitfire Buffs,
Found this access panel, part number is 367 27. Which I think is MK 1V. ?
But what is it for, clear Grey/Green external colour, an interesting slide catch and 4 positioning brackets on the inside, size is roughly 7 inches by 6 inches.
Would love to know what it was for and even better a photo of one in place ?
Cheers
Jules

Not the cable pivot – its the pivot for the undercarriage rams.
Aerial appears to be an IFF type.
+ spent case chute for Browning – but you knew that!
I think it is the IFF aerial, see this photo just to the side of the undercarriage leg, about 18″ long.

Thanks Chaps
yes, I knew the brass block was the U/C ram connector, and the spent case chute.
any photos of one of these IFF aerials in situ ?
BTW, the other item of course is a 20mm cannon head, worryingly found oppersite the firing range ! I would not have wanted to be around when they were testing the cannons !

Looks like a wing VHF aerial off a later Mark.Bolts are wing bolts and the little fitting is the rudder bar cable attach pivot..spent case chute as well.

Presumably the door to the aperture for the oblique camera.

From the RAF Museum drawing catalogue
367 27 9c Door at Oblique Aperture
367 27 43b Door retaining cleat
No doubt someone will come along and decrypt what door that refers to

36727 refers to the fuselage of the P.R. XIII; there should a “sheet no.” somewhere as well.

My first guess would be flare chute hatch. Mk1s had a lovely stainless hinge on them, perhaps this was fitted before they were phased out?
You’ve been finding some corking stuff, Jules. Well done!
