Another Spitfire Thread

All,

As we are on a bit of a Spitfire spree at the moment how about helping me nail a serial to a couple of piccies I have

They are both Mk.XVI’s, and the first is one display in a museum. I think that this one is TE214 that is currently on loan with the Canadian Warplane Heritage in Ontario but I’m not positive.

Is my guess correct ?

Mark 12 ?

I would imagine this is the Spit I managed to see on my honeymoon in 82. Two poor college kids driving to Winnipeg from Minneapolis 🙂

Hmmm, an aviation museum in Winnipeg? Mind if we stop honey?

It’s a disease these Spitfires I tell ya!

It is TE214 but look at the propeller – also reverse rotation.

The printer has reversed the negative.

Location – Not as I saw it at Winnipeg.

Harold,

Unfortunately I don’t know when the 1st picture was taken, it’s one of a load that I picked up a couple of years ago and have gradually worked through identifying them

When was the first picture taken. I ask because the picture shown is not from inside the Canadian Warplane Heritage . When i saw her last 2 years ago she was standing in front of a Diorama showing a typical RAF field in the UK during WW2. Also my picture of her from two years ago shows a Cannon sticking out of the wing not empty holes as this one shows. As well the CWH’s hanagar is not as dark looking inside as the picture shows.

TE214 & TE311 with the Seafire XVII opposite rotation blades circa early 1980’s before the spinner changed to black.

First one is TE214.

Second one I’m pretty sure is TE311. I remember seeing another Spit XVI pic with the propeller blades turning the wrong way and it was TE311, too.

and this is the second one.

All I know about this one is that it was taken at a Church Fenton airshow sometime in the early 1980’s

All I can come up with is TE311 of the Exhibition Flight but to be honest I’m not convinced

Anyone know more ?
