Hello everyone,
Here are some pictures of Avro Anson Mk.I MH120 undergoing final assembly before its first flight. When that is I’m not sure. It’s currently in the hangar where I work at Nelson Airport in the South Island of New Zealand. The standard of restoration is outstanding, with as much original material as the CAA permits. It is decorated in the markings of K6183 of 206 Sqn.
MH120 served with the RAAF and was the last Mk.I flying and will be so again soon. It’s been fitted with the metal wing from Mk.19 VM375.

Here is a picture of the same aircraft taken in 1991 as VH-BAF in the markings of Col Roscoe Turner’s Boeing 247 for a 1980s TV programme.

Once it is finished I’ll get some more of it flying.

[QUOTE=ErrolC;1981055]Here’s a video (taken by Warren Denholm of AvSpecs) from the right-hand seat during the Anson display at Warbirds Over Wairarapa last weekend. Ten minutes of twin Cheetahs!
WOW! Big round of applause all round. Brilliant flying and filming. This also bought back memories of the smell๏ปฟ of leather when I sat in the pilots seat of an Anson at RAF Colerne.

Bill Reid (owner) talks about the Anson in RAF service as part of Dave H’s podcast.

If I recall correctly, ‘The Big Show’ has a cracking account of flying as a passenger in the Anson – for a fighter pilot it was an ’emotional’ experience!

The Reid Avro 652A Anson Mk.1 was also at the Mosquito Launch Spectacular.
Although somewhat overshadowed by it’s more glamorous cousin, I really do like its sedate charm.

I wonder if the owner, after 10 yrs. working on it would be able to sell it, thats a pretty strong bond to break.

Anson
A very interesting project. After my wireless operator’s training at Yatesbury, I was posted to 7 Advanced Flying Unit at Bishops Court, Nothern Ireland for the last stages before gaining my S brevet. I was there for a month, June to July 1944. Several of us flew in the Anson at the same time, flights lasting from 2 hours 20 mins to 3 hours 30 mins.

I believe the plan is to sell it in a year or two, so get out your chequebooks!
Hopefully David Lowry and Temora is aware of that possibility and has it on their shopping list, as it would make an excellent addition to their wartime collection and the only airworthy Anson mark I would sit very nicely along side the only airworthy Hudson as two important types that played important roles is defending Australia in the early part of the war, and fitting given at least the fuselage served with the RAAF during the war.

Fantastic stuff! ๐

simply breathtaking a fantastic achievement! This is an aeroplane that should be seen in British skies and although unlikely what a draw she would be if the owner could be persuaded to bring her here for a summer’s flying! So many emotions for all the team involved as they watch their creation accelerate down the runway and at last its all been worth it – airborne! Congratulations she’s a beauty!!
