Whenever I update my anti virus software, my Internet Explorer program goes down, if I uninstalled this software and replaced it with another anti virus software would it be likely to stop the crashing problem?

“Retail you will be paying another £35+ for the box and a manual you can’t understand. “
It’s very good software from Norton but you’re right about the manual.

Thanks. The PC-cillin came with my PC package, so that is why I installed it. I never had problems for long enough, then whenever I updated I would get the message “internet explorer has discovered an error and needs to close”, last week this happened about six times in one day, it happened once this morning, just as I was writing my original reply to this thread. dhfan – I will have a look at that anti virus, it sounds okay, and I don’t have the spare cash to shell out on Norton just yet!!

All of the above sounds like good advice to me.

Comet, if you’re not rich, or a cheapskate like me, you could try AVG6 from http://www.grisoft.com
It’s free!
Regular updates, (just remembered and doing it now) and I’ve been using it for a year or so now with no problems.
Just checked to make sure the link worked and it seems that AVG7 is out now.

I’m sorry…but honestly, PC-Cillin Sucks! My computer got infested once even though the program was turned on 24hr/day and updated almost everyday.
Get Norton’s softwares, if you are rich.:D

Anti Virus is PC-cillin 2002. Internet Explorer is Version 6.0. There is a firewall with this anti virus, could that cause problems? And a web site filter as well. I have to psych myself up to update the software, and create a system restore thing because I’m sure one day that the whole thing will go and I won’t get it back!!

Which AntiVirus? Which release? Which IE release?
