It has been reported that Antonov AN-12 UR-DWF crashed in Algeria 30 Aug, sadly with the loss of the 7 crew. It was said to be carrying oil equipment from Prestwick (departed there 29 Aug) to Equatorial Guinea. Two tech stops were involved and it crashed shortly after take off from the second of those locations, Tamanrasset. This two tone blue and white aircraft was a frequent visitor to UK airports. :apologetic:

I’ve flown in one of those…they are a handful to fly and require 5 crew up front. Crashing 3 minutes after takeoff in clear weather certainly suggests some sort of catastrophic failure.
