Any Experience of Brunei?

I’m off to Dubai on Sat (not much fun, as coming back Monday), was rather hoping to be on the A380, but got tix with Royal Brunei (had a look, Emirates wanted £900, BA £460, and Brunei £365, so can understand company choice). Didn’t even realise, or think they would do a direct flight there.

However, no one I know has any experience of them, looks like a leased Singapore 777-200.

Just back after flying out on Saturday, and arriving home this morning (Monday), had the same aircraft which was on it’s direct return to Heathrow from Brunei! So a tad knackered.

Although, this should probably be moved to the trip report section, the seats were all pretty comfortable (compared to Air France whose 777’s are 3-4-3, Brunei have 3-4-3 with 33-34 pitch).
Food also pretty good, a sort of Malay type beef curry on the way out, it actually had some flavour and heat (worst ever meal goes to air France for the chicken in gravy on pasta). Breakfast was OK, ‘ham’ (the flight was from Dubai, so more likely Turkey ‘ham’) omelette .
Usual mix of films etc on the IFE (though their rather zealous film editing needs some work, they just blanked out ‘inappropriate’ sections of the film, living with 5-10 seconds of blank screen!).
Service was OK, with the stewardesses comping round fairly regularly with a tray of drinks.

They’ve never said anything specific but are always positive other than it’s a dry airline.

My estimation of them has just gone down! :dev2:

Friends of mine fly with them once a year to visit family.

They’ve never said anything specific but are always positive other than it’s a dry airline.

My wife’s grandparents used to use them all the time to fly to Australia, they always had good things to say about them.

Royal Brunei’s flight from LHR does a technical stop in Dubai in order to take on fuel.

I work in T4 where they fly from, but haven’t heard much about them, so can’t tell you about what to expect.
