Any flying Boeing 720 around???

Just found a photo of Boeing 720 N720JRat Airliners.net. Photo shot at Malta – Luqa in July 2004. Does this one fly, or is it awaiting the scrapman?

Interesting to hear that C-FETB is still flying.
Interflug62M, it was ex American A/L & MEA. I worked on it during the original modifications & later when it returned for an overhaul. I have some photo’s of it somewhere, also a large part of the Conair fleet at Stn for a football charter on a very grey day.

Was that the one with an engine test pylon? I fuelled it a few times at Stansted, early 90’s.

That would be covered in this thread then!:)

I think that Conair had a fleet of 4 or 5 Boeing 720s at that time. The one that you refer to was very possibly an ex Conair aircraft that was owned by GE or PW at that time and was on overhaul at the old ATEL Hangar 4. Were you with Air BP, Shell or ATELs own bowser? Either way nice to hear from someone who was at STN at the time 🙂

I used to do turnrounds on a/s Conair 720B aircraft at STN in the mid 80s, one of which was non ‘B’ “coal burner” example. 🙂

I think C-FETB is the only runner now and that may be on borrowed time if not already down – I believe N720PW has been grounded, N720H has been scrapped, and an SP has recently been registered in Canada!

Sorry to dredge this thread from forums past, but I just read some report that N720JR is now just a derelict in Malta. Can anyone who have seen the a/c recently comment on this?

C-FETB is alive and well…

I spotted Boeing 720 C-FETB high above the Laurentian mountains on Saturday doing some testing,,,,I did photograph her but the pictures are sorta small…but I thought it was worth reporting that rumours of her demise are far from true..I will post a picture this afternoon…
