I remember a photo or illustration of a woman up on a step ladder polishing the nose of a B17. I’m trying desperately to find this image. Does anybody else know of it or have it?

Thanks so much chaps, not exactly what i had in mind, but those 2 links are sublime! 😎
I could look through this sort of stuff for hours, and wasted much of Sunday doing so! 😮
No5 image just takes my breath away, for some reason.

Not the image you are looking for but pretty good (if the link works).

I urge you to visit www.shorpy.com & click on ‘World War II’ on the list on the right hand side of the home page. This will take you to some great Kodachromes that, when you click on ‘view full size’, are just superb.

Just searched the LoC website for B17 photos/drawings. 800,000+ results 😮
I’m going to have some fun!
Thank you.

I am fairly sure I have seen this or something very similar on the Library of Congress website – thousands of WW2 images there so – good luck!

Seem to remember it vaguely. Maybe a USAAF publicity picture, or by Boeing, Lockheed Vega? Best of luck with your search.
Thanks. It was almost definitely a staged publicity shot, similar to many of the famous colour photos of the era, by LIFE et al.
