Fair enough , just seems a wasted chance to add more to this forum for its members.

Dear all,
I have been discussing this with our advertising people and at this time there are no plans to provide this service on the forum. However if there are any updates I will keep you posted.
Regards,
Webmaster

Bumping… But seriously has anyone seen how many adds appear in the classified section these days (not many) in the days before the internet classifieds were more in use , now it is all on the net .
just my opinion.
cheers dave
I’d reckon it’s because eBay is easier than some local ads and displays to a wider audience (worldwide). Unfortunately auction sites take away the haggling aspect, and an item can go for a lot more than it’s worth….

Peter,
I’m curious what the outcome would be. I have some surplus bits and pieces that other projects in the UK might benefit from.
If anyone is looking for three servos and the aileron and elevator units of the autopilot set up of the RAF heavies, you know where to find me.
Cheers
Cees

This seems to have dragged out for quite a while for various reasons, so with that in mind, I have set up a Yahoo Groups Trading site, now its up to you whether or not you use it.
You can find it here: http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/historicaero/
You will need to sign up for it but it only takes a couple of minutes.

I really don’t see how a non-commercial trades/wanted/offered section is going to dent Key’s advertising revenue.
I have advertised in FlyPast Magazine itself several times with mixed responses but if you look there are usually only a handful of adverts placed by individual collectors. I would still advertise in the magazine as many people are still not au fait with or comfortable dealing on the internet.
As long as it stays non-commercial I can’t see the problem – it will serve the preservation community at large and make the forum a much better place – hopefully bringing in more people.
How about a trial? They can always pull the plug if it doesn’t work out.
No, I’m not – cos I dont want to be seen with a conflict of interests. Hence my playing devils advocate above!

Pagen01,
There is no problem with posting somethign up on the forum say if you want rid of some parts etc. Both Bruce and I cant speak for Key regarding the sales wants forum. I am not sure if Bruce is acting on this or not but just in case, I will make some enquiries for you guys again..

‘As it stands, both Peter and I have supported the idea, but I have to be careful as I can benefit financially from such a forum, having an interest in a company that sells parts and instruments.’
Right, I see the conundrum now!
Peter as for ‘they were going to take a serious look into it’, that has been said for ages, I’m with Kev in that a decision needs to be made.
My original proposal was a wants and disposals, with no prices attached. The idea of them appearing on this forum is that the right people (individual collectors, museums etc) see them, as opposed to local exchange and marts, specialist sites etc.
If someone was disposing of Gannet parts say, they can mention what they have here, and I can then PM or phone them to discuss the grizzly details.
Its just a way of the right people finding the bits they need, and disposers to find the right people to aquire parts.
Some items may not necesarily be a cash deal, but might be donation, give away or swap.

Last I heard was that they were going to take a serious look into it but that t might not be a free service. That is the last I heard about it. I think it is a good idea but will wait to see what happens.
