We heard MK959 was to go in to the paintshop last Autumn and I believe there was a picture posted of the work being undertaken. Has anyone seen the finished article or have a picture or link?
Thanks in advance!

Nice plane.
Is it just me ( ) or do the invasion stripes on this example make the rear fuselage look deeper than normal?
(I guess the aircraft equivalent of pinstripes making you look tall, or horizontal stripes making one look heavy).

MK959, changing hands
Here is the listing… which did not take long for offers to flow in… A buyer’s substantial deposit too…

Rayburn already has built up a new 2 seater helicopter ( a 3 yr task in 7 months) that is in for paint.
He flew MK959 at the recent October Wings Over Houston airshow in formation with numerous other warbirds.
Those of us around Hooks Airport and elsewhere in Houston will miss MK959.

Sold within a couple of hours of appearing on the Courtesy web site apparently, and for a bargain price, in UK terms, with the Dollar at two for the Pound Sterling.

More ‘959 photos
A buddy of mine took these shots of her yesterday on the ramp at Lone Star down in Galveston.
His comment was that she is perfect in every way. I hope to see her around town.
Hope you like his photos.

MK959 Update Sunday March 20th
Folks,
I was lucky enough to be present at Hooks (KDWH) on Sunday when Ray departed in MK959. She was looking magnificent to say the least. Mr. Thompson made 2 great passes that made the hair on my neck stand up!!!
IN-CRED-IBLE!!!! Here’s a link to a couple of the digital shots that I took. I got about a 1/2 roll of Kodak of the passes but they’re not developed yet.

New air to airs of MK959
Thanks to Mike Muraski and Ted Miller at Hooks for these shots…
They were taken from Ted’s helicopter…
That white glare from the cockpit has to be Ray’s smile!!!!!! 😀
These were taken yesterday after Ray in MK959 departed DW Hooks, Texas at 3PM local. 959 is now back home at Covey Trails in west Houston.
Awesome…

Thanks CC. Hope to see 959 sometime soon but not sure Ray will want to fly all the way to Oshkosh, be nice if he does though.

959 departed Hooks Sunday!
I missed it, sorry chaps…!!!! 🙁 Needless to say, I am one sad camper… haha… Ray said they tried to reach me, and I greatly appreciate that.
Ray said he got to buzz Hooks airport as well as his home field, Covey Trails…
Ray sounded like a verrrry happy fellow when he spoke to me this morning. He was VERY pleased with the way MK959 ran, and was verry pleased with the finish work that John Stewart did on her paint and finish. John has done 7 other planes for Ray!
But I will see if I can gather pictures taken by those there to see Ray…
!!!! Mike Muraski, also at Hooks, (who I understand has a great reputation for restoring T28 Trojans) got the incredible aerial shots…
Mike JUST sent me the larger file size pictures.
I will edit them and post them, with his permission. Thanks Mike!!!

Thanks everyone for posting all these wonderful pics in response to this thread. The Hooks people seem to have made a fine job of the paintwork.
Here is a link to a thread on another forum that has some more pictures of 959. The colour balance on these correctly (on my monitor anyway) shows the shade of yellow on the fuselage roundels and wingleading edges.

Great stuff – although the pics are a little small! 😀

Ray took off @ 15:00 local, and caught up with us for these stunning air 2 air pics. The machine turned out quite spectacular. Thanks to everyone involved for all the help and dedication.
