Not having visited North Weald for a while, I was wondering whether the two DC-4s (one a C-54) at North Weald are showing any signs of movement or are they destined to rot away there? Such a fate would be a great pity, as they arrived having flown the Atlantic, and so presumably were in reasonable shape at that stage.

A fair price, alot of airframe for the money,I wonder if it has a ono offer on it in these trying times.Mind you also alot of headache with storage and maintenance but hell we all face that problem.Make a great personal flyabout better than another company Learjet. Now where did I put that lottery ticket?!!!:)
Your user name gave me an idea. Put Merlins in place of the radials and make the flier a, what did the Canadians call it, an Argonaut?:D

Since when did McDonnell make DC-4’s?:D
You mean like Boeing making F/A-18s:diablo: :p
Also I notice a few things wrong with the photos the one showing the spare mains and engine mount thats not in 914 I know that when it left Mass. it didn’t have anything extra stuff inside.
Man I miss that bird it was so much fun to play with. I’m hoping that the person who informed me that a group is looking to purchase both is true because then I will get to play with it again.
Also did anyone notice the location Florida wow I never knew Southern Florida Country Side to look like English Landscape:eek:

And if either of these aircraft make it across the pond in 2008 then I’ll be elected the new President of the United States:eek:
Hi Scorpion,
Well you know what they say, good things come in three’s and lets face it
as long as there’s no ify vote papers, your home and dry.
Who will be your running-mate Lord Roxeth or Peter ?
Regards JJ.
God Bless America and Scorpion

Hi BlueRobin,
Nice to hear that because if Liberty Bell and The Canadian Lanc show up next
year at least they will be able to juice-up by means of making a call to someone in the know.Regards, JJ.

AVGAS
It’s just a case of speaking to your local petro co rep and getting some ordered if you can’t get a decent local supply. AVGAS is about £1.15 plus VAT at the moment. You can get a discount for certain quantities.

DC-4s at North Weald.
Carefull now, as it’s christmas the fairy of christmas (or Freddie Laker. rip.) may sneak down from Stansted and but a bulbous nose on each and call them Carvairs ! now wouldn’t that be nice ? Happy Christmas to all. Keith.
Hi Keithnewsome,
I don’t know weither this has some bearing on the post, but whilst we were at
the AA Classic Flight bash at Coventry, our hanger/collection tour guide told us that it can be a problem fueling these birds up due most airports only stock
an amount of prop-fuel nowdays for whatever reason. If these birds or one of
them went out on a long-distance run, it would burn a bit of juice don’t you
think ? and not all airports give Nector-points, so maybe the people that own
these aircraft are scratching their heads as to what to do with them, or wait
for Hollywood to come to the rescue for some blockbuster production.
Thats it Lads, get Harrison-Ford out on the case with that rather evil-looking
bull-whip he has with him at all times and their-away to save the day.
Regards JJ.

A little Birdy tells me that there might be a deal in the works for both aircraft and they will be heading back across the Pond. The Aircraft that is Marked as the North Atlantic Airways Bird is the one that will be kept in Airworthy Condition while the other will be used for spares depending on if they can’t get one of the Firebirds for a spare.

Update on DC-4’s at North Weald
Can anybody give an update or recent news please ?
By: Jon H - 17th July 2007 at 09:11
A true DC4 is a rare beast, perhaps some thought should be given to try & save this one. I understand that it’s in poor condition & was going to be destroyed during filming. However it is still complete & there are plenty of interesting British airline colours to choose from. It would make a great static exhibit, in Starways or Air Charter colours. 😉
Oh that would be nice – a DC4 in Starways colours next to our Brit at Speke…. 😀
