Has Mr H spoken to the little red and white thing that puttered through the overhead at about 2000ft right in the middle of his display ?
I noticed that Janie appeared to ‘put a bead on him’ at one point 😀
Seems as though it was a Cherokee, not a lot of time to take down the registration though!!! Apparently the guns were trained on the thing at one point though!!!!
Does nobody in the UK read Notams????

Oddly enough, there was also a red and white Chipmunk that chugged overhead Gransden on Sunday, heading roughly north west. I presumed Gransden Radio had cleared him though as nothing else was up at that particular moment. Either that or someone’s not rbeen reading their NOTAM’s…

Hi Neal, I came and said hello at Boxted, you were handing out pictures, you gave us two for my daughters which Denny signed for us, Thanks very much. Dont often post on the forum as I only have access via work. We enjoyed your commentary & Denny’s display, hope to see you at Old Warden, later in the year.

Nice pics from a nice little event. A shame the strong winds put a lot of flying visitors off. Nice displays all round.

Is this not normal when landing a Mustang then??? If you generally see one in the cruise at say 230mph, then you watch one in the pattern at 110mph yoy may well think it is at ‘half speed’.
From my point of view I always like to have wheels when I land, so don’t I grant you, but it helps if you intend to fly again in the near future.

y11f, the under carraige was down before the aircraft even turned into the downwind leg on finals, also the aircraft was running at about half speed.

Nice Stearman pic!! Do I spot G-LAZA in the distance in one of the pics?
By: Yak 11 Fan - 31st August 2004 at 09:08
any more G-SIJJ flew over the camp site today her undercarraige was sticky.
How could you tell it was sticky?????? Tell me more.

Carl Schofield was at the helm according to the tannoy, and very nice it was to 🙂
Just a shame that it was too wet for him to land. Almost 60 years on since the last P47 flight from the field would have been quite an event.
Jumpin Jaques and Janie did us proud, Denny Dobson put the Extra 300 through it’s paces in his usual style and the Turbulent Team filled the gap left by the AN2 that had gone u/s. Cross winds prevented the large models doing their stuff today.
BoBMF Spitfire was the LF IXe MK356.
Big round of applause for the Arnhem veterans driven parade (more than 50 were present), to the Suffolk Strut PFA for all things ‘airside’ and the Boxted Historical Group for the event as a whole.
Just a few pics and not up to the usual standard ( I’ve only got an ikkle little Fuji 204 y’know) 🙁

Nice photos.
Does anyone know who flew the P47?
By: adamdowley - 30th August 2004 at 21:56
Thanks. Sorry to dissapoint you but i didn’t manage to get any photos of the Spit. Flew too fast…
By: stewart1a - 30th August 2004 at 21:49
nice pic of the jug id like to see which Spit it was.
By: adamdowley - 30th August 2004 at 21:45
i don’t know much about Historical stuff, but the BBMF aircraft was the Spitfire – which one of the five i don’t know.
‘TFCs G-THUN’ – do you mean the Thunderbolt? here it is, along with the Havard, which also didn’t display.
By: stewart1a - 30th August 2004 at 21:28
any more G-SIJJ flew over the camp site today her undercarraige was sticky. which BBMF aircraft apearred? did the TFCs G-THUN show?
By: adamdowley - 30th August 2004 at 21:26
here are three pics. more may follow. the Mustang, the Boeing Stearman, and the Extra 300, which is flown by Denny Dobson i think. the Stearman didn’t display, it was a visiting aircraft as part of the fly-in.
it was planned to have the AN-2 come in and display, but had a problem. instead, we got two Mustangs!
