After much consideration, and a serious look at some high end prosumer models, I have decided to make the leap to a DSLR. While I will use it for a lot more than just aircraft, given the fact that I live 15 minutes from Micheal Potter’s excellent and ever growing collection at Vintage Wings Canada, warbird photography is definitely on the agenda.
I am seriously considering the Pentax K100D. I have an older Pentax film SLR with a few lenses for it. One of the attractive things about the K100D is that I can use my old lenses on it, and the image stabilization will work with them. I will invest in some new lenses down the road, particularly towards the wide angle end of the spectrum, but this will certainly ease the cost of the transition to the DSLR.
Does anyone out there have any experience with the K100D? I have read many reviews of it on the web, and they are uniformly very good, but I wonder what “real world” experiences anyone has had with it? Any thoughts?
