Anyway, a bit out of date, but how about this to cheer you up.
An impressive project. It must be hugely expensive, and while they are fund raising, it is backed up by tangible progress and they don’t make a big thing about wanting your money.

I do a bit of freezing in the garage on my own project. I wasn’t going to post it here as it isn’t real, can’t afford a real cockpit. It’s more of an accurate scale sim, but it is made using copies of original factory drawings and is as close to original as my woodworking skills allow.
Now that’s nice work 🙂

Well, in that case there’s always the restoration of ‘Doc’ to fly in Wichita. They have a regularly-updated website and Facebook page
Yeah, I am aware of that, but thanks anyway!

That sounds a scary combination! 😮
It does, even when you find out what I’m attaching the blades to!
With all seriousness, a bad back and an excessively busy winter maintenance means personal projects have slowed right down, and of the customer work we have on, we’re progressing as fast as we can, but the more we look, the more we find. Latest fun is a recently top end overhaul of an engine, upon inspection here, was found to have the inlet and exhaust valve guides in the wrong ports. thats another days work for somebody, but a bit of a poor show on those that did the work previously.

And some of us think that the B-29 is sexier than either of those!

The Jet Age Museum recently moved our Gladiator restoration project into the hangar and we’re building a Horsa cockpit from scratch. Does that count?

OK, I should’ve said flyable restorations/ rebuilds! Specifically, I havent seen much recent news on here about the Comet racers, The Hawker Fury and DH-9, the Bristol Bulldog and Heinkel He-51 replicas and the incredible work going on at Meier Motors (none of which are at Duxford!)
