Are there any warbirds (airworthy or otherwise) in Northern Ireland ?
AFAIK, there are no flying warbirds here in the Republic and aviation enthusiasts would love to hear the sounds of a Spitfire, Hurricane, etc in our skies again 🙁
Any chance some UK warbirds could relocate here 😀 ………. or even an occassional visit ???

The Air Corp’s PC-9M’s will be much in demand on the airshow circuit this year, what with at least 4 local shows and numerous foreign visits ! 🙂

Update on show Tucano and Chinook from RAF possibly FAA Black Cats Lynx TEAM AND PC9 from Irish Air Corps
By: proplover - 30th January 2005 at 11:54
Suspect the Spitfire will be PT462 and the P51 will proberbly be Jumping Jacues, IAC 161 may be a possibility but it would depend very much on costs and availability.
The line up at this stage looks tremendous and I hope that at both Newtonards and Enniskillen the public support the huge effort put into getting these airshows back on the calander.
With regard to the Salthill Airshow its very much a case of costs to get a Spitfire over there, I dont know much about Bray International Airshow.

Thanks for the info guys !
Two upcoming airshows in the Republic of Ireland –
– Bray International Airshow, Bray, County Wicklow on 21st August 2005 www.brayairshow.com).
– The annual (excellent!) Salthill Airshow, County Galway on 26th June www.salthillairshow.com
It would be great to see a Spitfire at one of these shows too ?!!

Believe the organiser is trying to put together one of the best content airshows seen in NI for many years, hope all you people turn out to support the shows. As soon as all the RAF stuff is confirmed then private display aircraft can be confirmed – watch this space.
Re Beech C45 Southern Comfort – the last (unconfirmed) I heard she had some engine problems and upon sorting that out she would be up for sale.

Ulster Airshow Newtownards 14th May, RAF so far Tucano ,Tornado,Jaguar,BBMF Spitfire,Red Arrows, also supposed to be other warbirds to commemorate VE Day council is backing it.Sunday 15th basicly same show at St Angelo Enniskillen.

Panther, you could be lucky this year. I believe that there MAY be an airshow at Newtonards (subject to the usual finance – primary issue, insurance, etc etc) around mid May – watch out for any press details nearer the time. You may just hear one, possibly two Merlins cutting through the Irish air.
Keep your fingers crossed.

Unfortunately I believe the Ulster Aviation Society has lost its premises at Langford Lodge and closed to visitors last month in order to concentrate on finding a new site elsewhere. Perhaps someone else has the latest news here?

That C-45 is based at Weston, Co. Kildare (just outside Dublin). Not sure if it has flown lately.

I know the C-45 Expediter/ Beech 18 formerly known as ‘Southern Comfort’ went to Ireland (not sure which part), but apparently the owner underestimated the amont of work needed on it. Proplover might know more info?
Is the plane in really bad shape?
