On the 4th May, 1963 I was on board a Vickers Viking, G-AGRU, that dropped flowers over the spectators as part of a publicity stunt by Clarksons who were trying to promote trips to the Dutch bulb fields.
This might be a bit of a long shot, but dut does anybody have a photograph of the drop?
The windows at each of the emergency exits were removed and when the whistle blew we had 10 seconds to discard the contents of our sacks, with one person sticking the front of the sack out of the window and the other shaking it vigourously! I even got paid for doing it!!!

Jees! Gooney, I didn’t know you were THAT old! First Biggin Hill I went to was 1966 and I was in short trousers then! 😮
I was a student at the time working as a baggage handler at weekends at Southend and was paid 3 shillings an hour. It was hard work for low money but I enjoyed every minute of it as Southend was extremely busy in those days.

I think my first, and only, one was 1966 too, but I had progressed to long trousers.
Nearly brown ones as I was walking across the back field when a Red Arrow came over at an altitude I’m still convinced was lower than my head. 🙂

Interesting – especially as G-AGRU is now the UK’s last survivor and is displayed/under restoration at Brooklands Museum. Someone must have some pics!
