How about replacing the corsair and P40 in OFMC’s 4 ship with the Yak and the La9? that would be different

MOTF,
This is not my view.
I was having a go at MONOPLANE who said in another thread that all OW displays had basically the same aircraft.
I know as you do that the OW displays offer great variety in a unique atmosphere which make it the best aviation site in the UK.
Long live the Shuttleworth collection at OW.

I went to Shuttleworth display for the first time this year and i agree with you.In some respects Duxford is too big and impersonal, sometimes with bad planning,i e who decided to put the artificial climbing wall at last weekends display between the crowds and flightline:confused:
Duxford is ok for faster and formation displays but there is a nice cosiness and intimacy and access to the planes at O W,I will definately be going again next season.:)

Is it permenantly over in the USA or just visiting.
This reminds me, did anyone see the UFO hoax show where they built a fake UFO and then set about trying to convince a bunch of p#ssed hippys in a beer garden that it was real? They did a great job and it got world news coverage as many people managed pictures and video image of it.
Well this UFO (radio controlled) was big enough that the CAA had to get involved.
One of the building team was overheard to say “Bl##dy CAA – No wonder real aliens have never landed..”
It was just a throw away line by him but it made me giggle..

Talking of which, Shuttleworths Poli should be up and running I think.
I’ve heard talk of this being a difficult one to get flying. It’s got a rather convoluted story, having been here before at some stage, and it’s been in the US, then New Zealand, and now it’s back here. It’s been suggested that the CAA might have a lot of awkward questions to ask about its past.

That should put some variety into OW shows that are apparently all the same eh MONOPLANE!!!!

How about a Polikarpov I-16 Rata, I thought Steven Grey owned one of the 6 built in NZ, he told me so several years ago before they were finished?

On another “dogfight-double” note, one thing I would love to see is a WAR replica pairing up with another for a display. There’s a Focke-Wulf 190 replica flying up here that I’ve seen at East Fortune (Perth-based, I think), and I’m pretty sure there’s a P-47 replica somewhere around, too.
They do it with SE5as/Neiuports/Fokkers etc, so why not?? 😀

Ahhh, I thought it was coming back again. Sorry! Mind you, I did write that last night at the back of ten, so maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me when I read about it! 😉

How about the Red Bull team ythey own / sponsor … I think a Grumman Mallard (Goose ?) … ?
Their amphibious Grumman is a beautifully restored (by Dornier) and immaculate French-built Widgeon. Don’t forget that they also have a completely restored (reskinned as well!) DC-6 in the pipeline!
