Anyone been to Chicago?

Hi all,

I am going to New York in April for two days training through my work, and have got a few days after that to go visit somewhere…was thinking about going to Chicago; not the best place to choose I know, but I’ve never been before, and everywhere else that I thought about going is just too expensive…!

I would be flying from Newark/EWR which kind of limits me to using CO/UA, however, as its just a quick short trip and I am on a very tight budget, I am rather tempted to go with American as they sometimes operate MD-80’s, an aircraft which I have also never been on before!?

Has anyone been to Chicago and if so, can you make any recommendations about where to stay and what to do whilst I am there?

Go to Smith & Wolensky, if you like steaks.

Why not have dinner in that salubrious restaurant Barack and Michelle Obama use on the lake shore (sorry, can’t remember its name)? You might run into them.

My only recommendation is to look for the F4F Wildcat somewhere in the terminal, a memorial to the airport’s namesake, Lt. “Butch” O’Hare.

Also, the Museum of Science and Industry has a well preserved Spitfire Mk 1 and a very rare Stuka, among other historic aircraft….and a U-Boat
