Anyone else here got a Mini?

Since I was about 10, I always used to love Minis. Just something about them……

My perfect Mini would be either blue or red, and it’d have to have a Union Jack. It had to be a classic one aswell…..not too keen on the newer version.

About 2 months ago, I got hold of a Red one. I wish I took a photo of it before, but I forgot to. But basically, it was just red. No modifications, just the plain car, normal roof and tacky ‘Sprite’ stickers on the side. I’ve now turned it into my dream 😀 There’s only a couple more modifications to make, which include alloy wheels and chrome arches and wing mirrors. Other than
that, here you go..

A list of the modifications done on it since I bought it:

1.New passenger side wing, due to rusting of old one.
2.Painted roof white, put Union Jack stickers on
3.Got rid of old black roof guttering, new chrome one instead
4.Taken off ‘Sprite’ stickers.
5.GB badge on boot
6.Union jack badge on Boot
7.New ‘Mini’ badges for bonnet and boot.
8.White cooper stripes on bonnet.
9.CD player and stereo system inside car.
10.Tinted windows.
11.Spot lights on front.

A list of modifications yet to be done:

1.Chrome window wipers
2.Chrome wing mirrors
3.Chrome arches and side steps
4.Alloy wheels
5.Chrome door handles.

Anything else you can suggest?! 😀

Like wannabe pilot said, I have always liked the mini. But unlike him, I havent got my hands of one yet. There are not too many in Florida, even the nice new ones, and to some extent I dont know if they are completely safe in the nice North American world of SUVs. I have a question though. Are they able to fit a 6’4” person like myself. And are they very efficient?

Great car there wannabe, the union jack roof is a winner 😎

Bought a Mini “Ritz” tax-free in Germany, blasted it around the Cleethorpes area for two years, nearly wrote it off racing an RS Turbo near RAF North Coates, and contrary to popular belief, you can bonk in a Mini!…….oops, have I shared too much? 😉

We’ve got one awaiting restoration by SWMBO’s indolent 17 year old son.

It’s going to be black with a Zeemax Body kit and DTM exhaust (in the loft waiting). I refuse to do anything to it until he gets a job!! Unfortunatly he’s “Working his ass off” doing art A levels at college 16 hours a week and can’t spare the time to work 😀

I’m going to stop now before this turns into a rant!

If you drive aout of Stamford, Lincs., south towards Wittering, there is a straight stretch of road with the wall of Lord Burleigh’s estate to your left. There is a large repaired patch in it, easily seen by the lighter shade of stonework. That’s where my Minivan ended its days in 1967, 2 days after I had bought it, with my wife at the wheel being taught to drive by me, when the nearside constant velocity joint broke. This meant that car steered itself into the wall head-on. I broke my wrist because I was holding the steering wheel at impact, and the wall was fortunately dry-stone, so it crumbled and we finished up embedded in it with everything behind the windscreen intact. Fortunately an oncoming police car had seen the whole thing and quickly established that both of us were stone cold sober. I’ve never had a Mini since then . . .

NEwones are nicer…and safer!

And more unreliable……My dad being a recovery driver has never picked up a classic mini. He has to deal with the new ones daily, yet they are 10 years or more newer.

Nice one 😀

My dream would be one done up as the red one from The Italian Job :diablo:

Well my dad’s got the blue one, I have the red one. Anyone lend us a white one? 😀

Yeah I knew about that. Obviously the front window-screen isn’t tinted (that’d just be stupid!). The front windows have a semi-tint, and the back is a bit darker.

Beware with the tinted windows, the UK police are clamping down on cars with a complete tint, as some Chrysler Voyager owners have found out to their cost. The main windows should let in a certain amount of light.
