Anyone going to KEW soon? need partial copies of this folder

Myself and another group of researchers need to get into this folder from Canada! Kew wrote back in 2011 with a quote of over $600 to copy 120 pages

Title: Allocation of German aircraft for Allied use
Reference: AIR 55/260
Description: Allocation of German aircraft for Allied use
Date: 1945-1946
Former reference in its original department: ADCC/6190/2
Legal status: Public Record

a quote in 2011 was to have the 64 A3 pages and 67 A4 pages copied to CD. We need only the papers relevant to the aircraft shipped to Canada and not the US or Australia. Spoke to Phil Butler a while back and he never knew this folder existed! Will to pay for copies, travel time etc. Working on a possible article on these aircraft in Canada including AM52 that might be buried at CFB Downsview.

Anyone help?

Edgar,

Vince and I are truly grateful for your efforts and thank you for looking at this file for us. We had found a file in the archives in Ottawa, back in 2002 that help us gain some information on what aircraft/engines arrived but I was looking for an inventory of engine serial numbers. These RCAF Central Air Command files didn’t help us find the eventual fate of Me262 AM52 at Downsview and her demise may have been left to the station commander. We have nearly exhausted the archives and may never find any archived records that would help us find out if the aircraft was indeed buried on the ground of CFB Downsview. I was hoping this file would hold some clues and it seem too good to be true. Thank you again and I’ll raise a pint in thanks.

After a closer look, there’s no mention of aircraft going to Canada (or America & Australia,) whatsoever, sorry. It covers distribution within Europe, mainly of specific aircraft types, mostly transports.

I had a look through this file, yesterday, and it may prove to be a disappointment for you. It’ll need more careful perusal, but most papers seem to concern European recipients of aircraft, and mainly the Ju-52 at that, with Norway and Sweden figuring most prominently. When I’ve had a proper look, I’ll let you know, but it doesn’t look very hopeful.
