Hey guys!
Had this forum recommended to me by a friend, Wingflaps2, (bless him!) a while ago and I am starting to get into a bit more now. I see a lot of new joiners are on board too which can only make the forums better.
Anyhoo, to get us all chatting on something not topical, any of you guys have fond memories (and pictures if poss) of airlines that are no longer alive?
I’ve got a bad track record I’m afraid, having worked for both Business Air and Gill Airways! Although, I promise, neither were my fault! Technically, although the name Business Air no longer flies the skies, they still exist as bmi regional.
Business Air gets the vote for my favourite!

Yes you’re right Gaurav. I did find it interesting when I looked at the worst delay thread earlier there were no references to JMC. Anyway, RIP JMC, welcome TCX.

Just out of ineterest, didn’t JMC get an award for being the best ontime Charter airline. So it still lives up to the Claedonian values

I worked for Gill Airways from 1997 – 1999 in the Revenue Accounts dept at NCL. They had a fantastic bunch of staff work for them and the atmosphere in the head office was laid back and light hearted. Most people were very proud to work for the company. I moved to Newcastle from Scotland and was immediately made welcome at the company. I only left to better my career in the industry, otherwise I would have stayed in NCL permanently – even after the demise of the airline.
Out of interest, which routes did you use? I managed to use NCL/ABZ, NCL/BHD, BHD/PIK and NCL/CDG during my time there.

Mine is Gill Airways. Loved that airline flew my first three flights with them!

For me its Buzz – everything about them was just spot on and fantastic – they really are the best airline – shame about Ryanair taking them over

Mine is definitely TWA. Flew them LAX-ATH via JFK in both 76′ and 83′. L-1011’s and 747-100/200 series. Good ol’ days.

I would have to also say Sabena too. As well as voting for Bcal earlier. 🙂

Seems no-one knows the answer to your riddle – so come on then – spit it out!
I knew it couldn’t have been Monarch, for the reason Wingflaps2 states.

Dan Air London (especially for the Comet and 727), the original Laker, Courtline and British Air Ferries.
I’m getting old, see.

EGNM – Couldn’t have been Monarch, although they did operate the BAC1-11. Monarch first flew in 1968.
