Having started to post this, I had a Google for their website, and they are shut for the winter… Ah well, as Magnus Magnusson used to say “I’ve started so I’ll finish”. I can always pick it up again in spring…
The museum at Hawkinge has a large chunk of wing, hanging on it’s wall, from a Dornier Do17Z that crashed at Cole End, Wimbish, having been shot down during a raid on RAF Debden. There is a 50% chance that two of it’s crew were captured by a relation (sadly now deceased) when they baled out over the village of Great Sampford.
Given their ban on photography by visitors, is there any way of obtaining a photograph of it – ie by finding out who to ask, not cloak-and-dagger stuff! It would be an interesting and unusual addition to the family history file.
Any assistance much appreciated!

Thank you for the offer, Geoff. If I try to PM you, I am told that I’ve turned private messages off, and I need to edit my profile to turn them on. But I can’t see where to do it on the profile. Any ideas?

The head of the museum is Mike Llewellyn
If you let me have your email address, I’ll send you his phone number, best keep it private.
