Anyone have a Chipmunk tailwheel?

An old school friend in America is lucky enough to be restoring a Chipmunk to fly and is in need of a tailwheel (Dunlop I assume). He has exhausted all his contacts over there so is now logically seeking one over here. I’m uncertain of what the part numbers are, but he needs a tailwheel, tube and a tyre. Being America, paperwork is not essential and he can overhaul the parts, so they don’t need to be new out the boxes.

If anyone has these or knows of where some may be available please do give me a heads up.

If all else fails I have a spare as they are also on the Canadian Fox Moth and Tiger Moth. I have one fitted to the Moth Minor in place of the origional hard rubber one

Scott Tailwheel

Interesting. Any idea where I can obtain details of the Scott tailwheel conversion?

Thanks

I’d go straight for a Scott-wheel conversion, they’re much cheaper in the long run and the tyres work out at about $18 with tube in the US as opposed to the rip off price of about £236 for a Dunlop over here. I doubt you’ll find an original wheel over here for a reasonable price either.

I’m afraid I don’t have any details on this Tony. Does anyone have any contact details?

What about the one in Scotland that was written off in the winds? Unless it is getting rebuilt.

Has he tried dehaviland support as they do some spares, see

Chippie

Thanks 8674 and Terry. I have been in contact with an few operators and put the word out, but there’s such an amazing amount of bits and pieces out there sitting unused on shelves and in sheds that I thought it worth asking here.

Thank you for the manual pages. They are very useful.

I haven’t got a wheel, tyre or tube, but these pages from the parts manual may help.
