It seems the object is hollow, so nothing on the reverse. It was found in a forest near Moselle.
There is a suggestion that it could be German WWI,
Reserve Artillerie zu Fuss!
Hohenzollernsches Fussartillerie Regiment 13
Could the 4.125 be the calibre of a weapon ?
Good condition for WWI though.

Thanks for the replies. I don’t have any info on the item apart from these
pictures unfortunately. I agree that the “R” doesn’t look quite right, so there
is a possibility that it may not be RAF related after all.

i/d
It looks like a frank or a stamp, the numerals displayed on the top being in reverse on the bottom etched out of a rubber pad and the lip on the underside to align it with the edge of a box top or sheet of paper?
The knob looks to be just that – a handle, not an accurately shaped piece of maintenance/jacking equipment.
Just my tuppence worth.
Anon.

Not that it will probably help any, but is it hollow (like a cover?) or solid?

looks like the kind of pop/clip item your would put a hole of a leather belt strap through kind of thing?

The numerals look continental style and the style of the R being different from the AF.
Not entirely convinced it could be an RAF related item to my eyes

Looks rather like a jacking or trestling pad.
