Anyone know anything about German 88's?

I’ve got a… er… paperweight here..

The markings on it are:

U 13 Sk 6 44 (June ’44 I assume)

OSW (or DSW)

Pr_ugz (can’t make out the letter where the _ is, possibly Przugz?)

Then a VERY small eagle/swastika that has something written under it that I can’t make out. May have to enlist the help of someone with an optical comparator…

There’s also “20” on the tapered part of the shell…

& I need to find the fuse part as thats missing.. anyone have one laying about?

Ideally I’d like to find out here in ther former colonies as importing one may be a tad alarming to the ATF etc….

They had 2, one looks like it came out of a sewer pipe & was cheap, the other was mint & more than I’m willing to spend. I may knock one up from aluminium in the lathe 🙂

The AZ23s are ok price wise, but that ZTc/30 @ £70 is about double market price! 😮

They will be available on and off at around £30 – £35 sooner or later.

Cheers….

It’s a controlled fragmentaion high explosive round. The fuze can be either an AZ23 if wanted for land service use (i.e Tiger tank), in which case the shell should be painted green.

Or a Zt.Zs/30 time fuze if anti aircraft in which case the shell should be painted yellow. Both fuzes are available on Specialistauction.com under militaria, sub heading ordnance then sub heading fuze.

Or just use the Search function.

Cheers…..

Find Tony Williams – he has his own site. If he doesn’t know what it is, he will know people who do.
