Anyone out there know anything about the Plane Heritage organisation at Goodwood? They used to offer Tiger Moth flights but I haven’t been able to get hold of anyone there for a few months. There’s an answerphone, but no-one seems to respond to messages. There’s also an email address, but they don’t respond to that either.
anyone got any info? Have they gone bust? Any news would be welcome!
Cheers

Well Said……

I can clear this up for people.
Indeed the rug was pulled from underneath the operation at the end of the 2009 season, with all of the passengers having been flown for that season. It was unfortunate that the ability to operate was removed following a disagreement during the 2009 Revival that was never resolved. I stood down as a Director of the organisation shortly before Christmas as the working relationship with the airfield had broken down to beyond recovery, and the operation continued with the remaining management.
The last I knew there were few bookings for the 2010 season, and the company had written to those that were booked and as far as I know, they have all had their money back. Unfortunately I am not in contact with the current managers, but as far as I am aware a deal was struck for the operation to continue through an executive charter company based at Goodwood.
It was a mighty fine operation and we introduced many people to vintage flying during our time in regular operation. I must say we were hampered by many other operators who did not wish to see us do well, and its unfortunate that it was felt that our operation at Goodwood didnt achieve the return to the Estate that they desired.
I must also add that PH never acted as part of or in conjunction with Mithril Racing, many years ago XT was leased to Mithril, but that was by the previous owner.
I also do not like specultion that money was taken “as usual” and no flights provided. The Directors ran the company entirely unpaid, we took nothing from the operation itself and reinvested everything back into the aeroplanes and operation. We had many happy customers, provided corporate entertainment to royals and celebrities, and endless charitable flights for Fly2Help, Dogs Trust, Help for Heros and deHavilland Bursaries. All in all I believe the net gain from the operation to have been very positive for vintage aviation. Such a shame the greed of others put pay to our time.

The previous owners address for the company is listed, so send a registered letter to them
get it here

and the new owners are still providing the same service from the same place

Pay by credit card and as long as it’s over £100 you are fully protected.
Always book direct with an operator, never with an agent (Red Letter Days etc) The agent’s margin has to come from somewhere.
The industry norm is that 7% of all gift vouchers are never redeemed.

A Fool and his money are easily parted.
Why not find out the facts FIRST, and THEN you can comment for the benefit of all.
Flinging wild accusations, as is the norm here, is pointless.

…….”Never (NEVER!!!!) part with your money until you’re at the airfield. If the company goes down the tubes, you’ll lose it”…….
But surely if you book in advance and pay by credit card you are protected?

I know someone who gave a flight and had no return…at all……….
Seriously though, I used to know those Tiger Moth guys very well at G/wood.
At one time they operated under the Mithral racing banner, but I have not been in touch for some time.
Your best bet would be to call Goodwood control, and ask the question !!
I think they have simply relocated and your question could be answered at the airfield.

Well, I’ve met them a few times. Appears they had the rug pulled from under their feet when the hangar at Goodwood was closed down. They don’t seem the types to take others money and head for the hills.

Hear hear Dunbar. That was quite an accusation without presenting any evidence.

Is this a fact?

…..having taken folks cash with no flight & no return
How many times do I have to say this to people:
“Never (NEVER!!!!) part with your money until you’re at the airfield. If the company goes down the tubes, you’ll lose it”.
Many companies use the flow of cash in return for ‘vouchers’ to make money and keep the operation afloat. It’s a well known fact that a proportion of those who have vouchers bought for them as presents never claim their flight…

I believe they lost the hangar at Goodwood and have suspended operations…
