Anyone know the film?

A couple of months ago I just caught the end of a WW2 film that had a Percival Proctor flying over the sea looking for a German submarine somewhere off the coast of Scotland (I think). Anyone know the title of this film??

Excellent, thanks guys I knew someone would know the answer. I’m going to order it on DVD now.

Anyone know of any other films with Percival aircraft in them??

Any good?
Suspend your disbelief, I suppose…
It is based around an Irish officer anti-hero (Brian Keith) with a dislike of senior officers who gets given (forced into) command of a prison camp where the senior officer is an ardent Nazi (Helmut Griem) who is running a active disobedience regime (as in beating up the guards, etc) and is not afraid to murder those who won’t follow him, nor leave some of his fellow prisoners to die in a hut-collapse to provide a distraction to his chosen mens escape. The escapees travel through Scotland in a truck disguised as an explosives truck before changing it into a furnature van (or vice versa – I forget) to meet a U-Boat (actually an A class Royal Navy submarine), only for them to be spotted by the renagade prison camp officer, in his spotter plane, who calls in a patrol boat. Most of the prisoners escape but the Nazi is left on the surface after the sub dives – cue slow pull-back…

What do you want – high art it is not!

its not bad, interesting to see a film focus on German prisoners of war.

If I remember rightly the U-Boat gets pursued by some British MTBs and attempts to escape by jumping over the harbour wall but ends up in a fence. 😉

The MacKenzie Break (1970) – about an attempt by German PoWs to escape from Britain by meeting up with a U-Boat.
Starred:-
Brian Keith …. Capt. Jack Connor
Helmut Griem …. Capt.Willi Schlüter
Ian Hendry …. Maj. Perry (Camp CO)
Jack Watson …. Gen. Ben Kerr

I’m guessing the film I saw was a 60’s or 70’s film. From my quick internet searching Enigma is a new film? (2001)
