Cheetah? The size of the CB gap rules out some of the DH engines.

I still have a feeling it`s American. Did you check the mags while you were down the hole?. . . . .

Pete

If it was American, surely ‘moulding’ would be ‘molding’

Does it say “FB”? I cannot get a big enough image to read it.
The magneto itself would probably not have Bristol-made info plate as they were made by other manufacturers. The engine could have had this plate fitted, but I haven`t come across that before and I can`t really see why they would fit it.
It also looks rather American to me, but that is speculation!

We do have magnetos for Bristol engines but they are not here. Next time I get a chance I will have a look at them.

It is from a Bristol engine (non sleeve valve) so my guess would be Jupiter, Mercury or Pegasus.

Wellington?

Forget what I said about non sleeve-valve engines…..I was thinking about valve-gear lubrication.

On a magneto CB must surely stand for ‘contact breaker’ and would tie-in with the mention of the cam and lubrication.

Can you read the part number (FB2269?) at the bottom left of the label?
