Guys.
I came across these pics on Fotopic site and wondered if these planes are still there?

I think a few points need clarifying ! The airfield is used for training firemen in the essential role of rescuing people from aircraft . The aircraft have a purpose and are not ‘abandoned’ as such . The land is the property of the Mod and I am sure they do not welcome souvenir hunters . The base is still used by helicopters operating from RNAS Culdrose – there are numerous pictures of the wrecks there on the net.
Exactly.
As i said, MOD owned and MOD property. If you get caught trespassing you’d better have a good excuse.
Only key holders are farmers etc, although the r/c plane boys go up there too.

Makes me sad to see relics waiting for the inevitable. The Harrier looks complete (ish) as do some of the Wessex’. Would be good to hear that they donated parts for the greater good! Good find on the photos Peter!

Hmm, I wonder if any groups or individuals would be able to acquire parts for their projects from there?
Nope… not legally anyway !! 😉

The Canberra is WT308 , a B(I)6, the only one that wasn’t flown by 213 Sqn in Germany (the 1st of the Strike Sqns).
Although Predannack is a Fire School, the blackened appearance of 308 is not an indication of fire damage, it’s fading black paint. Seems the School painted it black in the early 90s (I think) because its raspeberry ripple RAE paint scheme stood out for miles – it was considered an eyesore!

Hi Peter,
I think those pics are very recent, a good hint being “5th July 2006” at the top of the page. 😉
Predannack is a Royal Navy airfield down in Cornwall and it’s home to the Fleet Air Arm Fire School, hence the chopped up Jetstream etc.
