dark light

Anyone know what this item is?

Hi All

Just a small damaged part – I thought it might be part of a cockpit light but it isn’t either of the two versions that I have (shown below).

It appears to be some sort of brass bayonet cap but with a locking device that is released by pressing a small catch on the side. This presses onto an internal spring which is circular so something must pass up through the centre.

I’ve drawn what I think would be the structure of mating half if that’s any help (in green). One drawing is with the cap on top and the other with the cap at the bottom.

If you have a photo of your suggestion that would be great! It might not be anything related with aviation at all!

Many thanks

James

Ah

Found it!

Disguised by the large knurled ring, but you can see the small ‘release’ tab on this photo and the mark showing where one of the internal pins has been welded/peened over.

Have to get one now and disassemble it – just my luck to have all the ‘other’ lamps!

Cheers
