Hi Del
Glad you enjoyed Denny’s display. The website is soon to have some new photos added that were taken during the Elvington show by PGS Photographic. I’ve seen the pics and they are stunning.

Many thanks.

The departure was a total ****-up. Having arrived ex-Wellesbourne Mountford by way of London Knettishall International – Say 3hrs 10 min, I really would not be confident about setting off on the home-bound leg 1:30 ish with the fuel remaining (Whatever was then remaining of the 120 some litres including unuseable capacity, at up to 27 litres / hr burn)

Knowing this to be the case I had organised around 80 litres to be uplifted after the show finished (nominally 17:00)

When it finally ended at 17:15 app no b*gg*r had a clue about how it was going to get to the aircraft or when.

Then, of course, there arises the further issue of remaining daylight. Returning to an unlit strip on a murky evening I couldn’t really leave much after 18:00 or the landing would be marginal.

I asked on the radio, I asked passing marshals, I asked other pilots. One of the latter said “Try Sherburn-in-Elmet. Twenty minutes down the road and open till 20:00”

Made the decision and went (That’s when Neal saw us go)

SiE? Lovely field, very friendly. I’d go there again.

I must confess that the original post confused me (I am easily confused :D), since I couldn’t see a reversed ‘N’ but only what looked like ‘WM’. However, for once I wasn’t in pedant mode and thought it was either my poor eyesight or that I was missing a point somewhere. It never occured to me that it wasn’t me!

Don’t do a lot of photography at air shows. This was the only other shot of the Gloster.

However

Having gone to the trouble of resizing the image to attach to the original post I suppose I might as well post it anyway
