Anyone note the Beaufighter….

…in the trailer for the fim “The Mummy III” ?

Saw an advertisement on TV and there it was, multi-seats and crashing. CGI no doubt, but an interesting spot to see a Beau

Strange choice of aircraft for an American movie, a B-25 or A-26 solid nose jobby would have been more user friendly and allowed non CGI or ground scenes to have been made more cheaply I would have thought.
What about the single engined aircraft following up in the strafing attack, P-40 do you think.
Looks a damn good bash em up movie, a Beaufighter only adds to the fun.
TFC take note, Beaus and P-40’s might now be in constant demand for film work, you may have a good potential earner at DX.

Sorry, but you can’t get anything cheaper and easier than CGI.

Unfortunatly we are now moving away from real aircraft in major movies. Although its nice to see historic aircraft on the big screen, watching a CGI, no matter how good, is just not the same 🙁

Interesting adaption of the cockpit. It was a single seater up front, no?

Good attention to detail, the nose is dented in one take.

Old aircraft in films: ‘Every little helps’ 🙂

saw it today – useful cargo door on the side so they could have a machine gun there a la UH-1 Vietnam, single seat offset to to left in the cockpit, but yes – as you say every little helps, otherwise well detailed, Aussie green colours etc.

had to slap BSG junior about the head though, he thought it was a Whirlwind… bad boy, no Macdonalds…. am sure his mother was unfaithful…..?

Here’s the full-length trailer for it.

The Mummy – Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

The Beau makes a few appearances, but the single-seater follows it in the strafing run sequence (and yes, it’s starting to look more like a Kittyhawk!)

bit of a blur but I thought P-40 with shark mouth?

Could have been. It was only on-screen for a fraction of a second when I saw it!

Anybody got an inkling of it’s destination – there can only be a limited number of destinations at that price

Australia was rumoured some time ago, which would make sense given it comprises components from Australian built and/or Australian operated examples. Pure speculation though.

Yeah, I noticed it, but I also noticed in another trailer a single-engine-type aircraft as well, looked a lot like a desert Hurricane….

According to the new FP, there are unconfirmed reports that the Beau is leaving the country in the autumn so that’s a non starter.

Hi Dan,

Yes, Last weekend we were in a cinema and one of the preview trailers was the Mummy with the six-seat Beau prominently present. Wonder where they left the mainspar.

Cheers

these films

these movies a great but a dream for us to point out things like this.

airship in the second one, and His Majesties Royal Flying Service in the first…..

I love ’em though – but the beau was an odd choice, maybe it was just find a nice picture in a book and copy it.

If anybody has seen the two movies “flags of our fathers” and “letters from iwo jima” the CGI Corsairs look OK, even the brief in cockpit view doesn’t look too much like a video game.
