Anyone remember the Sprint?

With all the talk of missile defenses these days, does anyone remember a missile called Sprint? It was the endoatmospheric component of the Safeguard anti-missile system. This weapon accelerated so fast and heated so rapidly in dense low altitude air that it could be COOLED with an oxyacetylene torch. It became white-hot within seconds of takeoff. It was able to withstand mechanical shock of 25,000 G’s and speed was in the mach 10 range. It’s electronic components are archaic by today’s standards but airframe performance is probably unmatched.
