Anyone want to save a Robin Hanger ?

Sadly my local farmer has decided that the Robin that has stood on the spot since 1940 is no longer any use to him, and wants to replace it with a modern barn.
So, any one fancy the challenge ? It’s quite a liability as you know what the roof sheets are made of!

Good evening all. Two good ones still survive on the fringes of Shawbury; here’s one of them.

Great, well done. Someone called it a hanger not a hangar. Make him feel good about it why don’t you….

There’s a chance to go and save something historic but instead the spelling police step in…

Pathetic.

I assume that the problem, to which the OP alluded in his original post, is that the hangar is roofed with asbestos sheeting. Presumably that will be a problem for the owner if he demolishes the hangar, to replace it with a modern barn, whether or not he finds someone who wishes to dismantle it and move it off site in order to reconstruct it elsewhere.

If only a little closer to home I would have been in like a shot.
While we are on about it, can any Forumites get me a set of drawings for the trusses and/or measurements as I woud like to replicate one out here in the Colonies.

I think unfortunately for the cost of dismantling, transport, restoration and rebuild, you can build a modern day hangar that is better suited for a museum. It’s a big project to take on.

Missing the point a bit: that’s like saying let’s not bother saving Spitfires because it’s easier to build a replica. Oh hang on…

Wire, wood or plastic?

Maybe that hangar is full of hangers? Can’t see from the photo :eagerness:

On a more serious note I hope that a museum can rescue it: these are indeed fast-disappearing.
