Keep to this one 🙂
Alternatively, join the Yahoo LBA group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/lba2/, unfortunately you have to me a member before you can view and post messages on there, and I think membership has to be approved, so it might be a few days before you can view things on there. Pprune is also good, alot of rubbish on there as well though.
Airliners.net is one of the most useless, I would neverpay to post messages on there!

Thanks.
In order to keep up with these kind of things, do you know any aviation news websites I can use? A.Net is no good to me somehow.

What have they been replaced with? Or haven’t they?
The LHR route that used to be a Fokker, is now a 319, as I said earlier was DBCE earlier.
The rest of the routes are now operated by a combination of 135/145s.
Hope that helps 🙂

A319s I think…

No bmi Fokkers left at all anymore.

MAN is definitely great for spotting, but judging by the pics etc of FRA, it could give some competition.
Oh and are all the Fokkers definitely gone or is there the odd one or two still operating?
By: LBARULES - 30th May 2005 at 17:28
I dont think many people realise that bmi are so big at LBA, we are very lucky to have them alongside Jet2s big low cost operation, the likes of LPL and CWL have plenty of lo-co stuff, but no proper full service scheduled airline.
We see the Fokkers on the 3x daily KLM AMS route, the morning and evening are F100s, and the F70 operates the afternoon flights.
I love MAN, been there many many times 🙂

So that is- GLA,EDI,BRU,CDG,ORK,JER 🙂
The Fokkers are all gone now unfortunately 🙁
I didn’t know bmi had so many routes from LBA!
Here at MAN we get the Fokker’s from KLM Cityhopper, Air Berlin, EU Jet, and sometimes HLX, so we always see them on a daily basis. 😀
Manchester is the best airport in the UK for spotting and one of the best in Europe in my opinion. You often get people from America, Holland, Germany and Spain at the different viewing areas.

Not good at all. At the top of my head, I can think of three. The apron where the Jet2 a/c stand, but there is hardly any access there. From inside the cafe where you can see a bmi regionals parked up close and see all the take offs and landings. And on a hill behind the Multiflight hangar, but it is only good for landings and take offs, of which there are not many at LBA.

As Grey says – always good stuff in at MAN 🙂
By: Grey Area - 29th May 2005 at 21:16
There never is these days..
Nonsense! Take no notice, xpboy. 🙂
There’ll be plenty for a NCL regular to see – we get a lot of stuff in MAN that doesn’t go near NCL so you’re sure to see something of interest.
If you’re mobile, my advice would be to do MAN in the morning, head across to LPL for the lunchtime and afternoon “rushes” then back to MAN for the evening business flights.

If the 150 miles is for the round trip then yes certainly, 300 miles is a bit different, but I think every UK aviation enthusiast should visit MAN at least once, it is by far the best airport for viewing.
