I never had the opportunity to see or hear Robert Rudhalls talks and films regarding the filming of the B o B .I wondered if the featurettes on the new Reg 2 DVD are the same ones he showed in his talks,or are there still more goodies to be seen. 🙂

I’d work hard using www.abebooks.com or e-bay to get copies of Robert’s books, rather than waiting.
The chances of a reprint are very remote. Primary sales (first print run) have gone, so secondary sales (a repring) would likely be too small to be economic.
Cheers

Right before he passed away, Mr Rudhall sent me a very nice email on some questions I had about a second printing of his very well researched Battle of Britain book on the movie. I bought one at Hendon and it got water damaged and would love to find another copy. I ask him to look into the possibility of a second printing and he said he would inquire. I sure wish FLYPAST could do this . I have looked far and wide and no luck on locating a copy. Anyone have one for sale, look to the new world for this buyer. Very happy to see that MGM put all the extras on this DVD!

Excellent that Robert received that news before his death, Ashley. A while ago some of us asked MGM if they could put on extras on a Region 2 disc – I think it would be nice if we dropped them a quick line to say ‘ thanks’. Anyone got an email address? (sorry, lost mine)

Yes Trumper, Robert sometimes showed a 16mm print of “The Battle for the Battle of Britain” documentary featured on the DVD at some of his talks (where projection facilities were available) Robert had long discussions with MGM to persuade them to feature the documentary on the DVD, and finally he succeeded. In fact the last time I spoke to Robert, he had just learnt that MGM had decided to put “The Battle for the BofB” on the DVD, and he was so pleased 🙂
The origins of the other special features I do not know, perhaps someone else can shed some light?

Thats a great question Trumper, I have heard many good things about his talks here in the states and wonder what ever became of all his materials he collected over the years. I know he had film shot while the production was going on. I had a copy of his book and it got water damaged, would love to find another copy for anyone out there. Wonder if anyone ever recorded him while he made a presentation about the film? I’ve already placed an oder for mine from the UK. Nice to see they placed all the extras on this version of the DVD.
