Are you a visitor to the PRO, Kew?

I have a friend in the Czech republic who is researching No 310 (Czech) sqdn RAF. He needs someone who can take photcopies from time-to-time on his behalf of the 310 sqdn ORB, and combat reports filed by the squadron’s pilots etc. He is willing to cover the cost of the photocopying and postage.

If you are able to help, send me a pm with your email address, & I will pass it on to him.

I know that photocopies can be ordered by post, but from my own experience, I think that it would be better for someone to do the copies in person.

Kev,

Apparently the Czechs only have the 310 sqdn ORB from March 1943 on, poss for the reason you mention.

I will see if he’s interested in the ORB on microfilm, but I think he’s only after the odd page or two, rather than huge chunks, so if anyone can do some photocopying on the odd occaision please let me know.

Are there any plans to put the ORB’s and associated documentation on to CD??? I for one would buy them as the price would be alot cheaper that having to travel from Jersey or request photocopies.

Geoff.

If your friend has access to a microfilm reader it might well be worth asking the PRO for a quote for the film of the ORB. The one I have was acquired for a tenth of the cost of photocopying. It’s well worth the effort and cost and saves a lot of travelling or having to rely on other’s to visit on your behalf. The film is charged at around 90p per metre which would probably cover 30 ORB pages as opposed to around 40p per sheet photocopied. If you ring the PRO/NA they will find the AIR reference numbers and will give you a quote for photocopying or microfilm.

Hope this helps.

Geoff,

I may be wrong but I think there are copies of the Czech ORBs in Prague. Assuming that they survived the floods of a year or so back, which just might be the reason you have an enquiry.
