[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-06-02 AT 06:48 PM (GMT)]The below shows that easyJet has turly become a big airline but it looks like DBA can be confirmed as an orange company now as easyJet dont operate any German Routes but have a German version of there website now! Or there is the possiblity that they are opening new German Routes if they couldnt buy DBA.
If both airliners are bought Ryan Air shall have a hard time to make their promise come true that they will be the biggest again but is the biggest the best???
Can Ryan Air compete with this:
Aberdeen
Amsterdam
Athens
Barcelona
Belfast Intl
Edinburgh
Geneva
Glasgow
Inverness
Liverpool
London Gatwick
London Luton
Madrid
Malaga
Nice
Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG)
Paris Orly (ORY)
Palma (Majorca)
Zurich
Go’s new easyJet flights which will be in ops in under 18 months:
Newcastle
Alicante
Bilbao
Bologna
Copenhagen
Faro
Ibiza
London Stansted
Lyon
Milan Linate
Munich
Naples
Palma Mallorca
Prague
Rome Ciampino
Venice Marco Polo
DBA Routes if they buy then:
Startflughafen
Berlin Tegel
Düsseldorf
Hamburg
Köln/Bonn
Malaga
München
Stuttgart

RE: Are You Orange
Yes they are going to merge the two airlines.Buzz will be merged with KLM’s other low-cost airline, Basiq, into a single airline. In March of 2002, KLM had signaled its intention to eventually consolidate its two low-cost subsidiaries by placing them under a single management.
I heard they were talking about a new name called EuroHopper or just keeping the name Buzz.

RE: Are You Orange
I heard KLM wanted to merge Buzz with Basiq Air… or was it Transavia (the same if you ask me or is Basiq Air the low cost arm of Transavia which is the low cost arm of KLM ?).

RE: Are You Orange
Remember Debonair they used 146s for the most part and it didnt work for them, they kind of lost the plot because they wanted to be a low-cost no frills airline, but I seem to recall that they offered free drinks & food ?

RE: Are You Orange
It was reported not so long back that buzz were looking into an expansion programme and withdrawing the 146’s – don’t kno whats happening not that parent KLM UK has merged with KLM Citihopper -LBA will be getting a mix of KLM UK F100’s and Citihopper F70’s from August.

RE: Are You Orange
I think the question is that can the smaller low cost carriers compete with EasyJet rather than Ryanair.Buzz for example is a very small airline compared to the big low cost carriers.Their network is very small with only destinations really in France,Germany and Northern Spain unlike EasyJet an Ryanair who fly all over Europe. Also the aircraft Buzz use is not doing them much good. The BAe146 is hard to operate profitable as low cost Aircraft and also operations with two manifactures (737-300) can not be that cheap either.
One good thing is the fact that Buzz operates to the primary airports rather than secondary such as CDG,unlike Ryanair who fly to Beauvais. With this you are closer to your destination and have better transportation links to the main cities so its a lot faster and more appealing to a passenger. However,Easyjet seem to be doing this now and so in my opinion its going to be harder for the likes of Buzz to compete in the low cost market when their ‘big brothers’ are getting larger all the time.

I’m sure Ryanair can compete as long as they keep their amount of destinations up and their prices down which i’m am sure Michael O’Leary will do then I see no problem.
