I’m sure one of the APs does cover the fabric application. I was interestted in aquiring a pod at one stage and remember seeing the information on how to correctly cover it in the linen.

I dont think its in the AP’s.
Do you have the canopy on or off? Easier with it on, but you cant guarantee a waterproof finish.
It should go on in a complete piece either side, with a join down the centre of the nose. However, it is easier to put on in eight pieces, two on the nose; joining just aft of the gun door; another piece on each side covering the main body, and extending up to the rear of the pod. Two pieces under the wing, and covering half the intake, and two pieces on the bottom of the fuselage, with a join in the middle. Then lots of tapes!
I dont think its covered in a manual – might be in the repair manual, but I have seen it on a DH drawing somewhere.

Schedule of Parts A.P
If anyone has the schedule of parts handy for the T11/T22/T55 could you please dig out the part numbers for the brake components in particular brake bags and linings etc.
This will enable us to pick out what we need from a source of mixed parts.

Confused construction numbers
Can anyone help with the confused construction serial numbers of vampires ?.
For example our aircraft XG 743 T22 Sea Vampire. All the books etc state her construction number is 15634.
BUT
The aircrafts own construction plate mounted on the front platform state the following;
D.H.Vampire DHP 45330
her wings are s/n 389 and s/n 390
so we are somewhat confused, have looked in lots of books and construction lists etc and nothing comes close to this c/n number any inspiration would be appreciated ??.

Help to identify radio equipment etc.
We are working on our new aircraft XG743 and she has had some very unusual modifications and has been used by the RAE for various things unknown in her latter days.
In the nose where there would usually be the G45 gun camera or a landing lamp there is a mounting base. All the instruments and equipment on the aircraft is loomed into this mounting and it looks like it could be some form of data recorder. She also had a very different radio and equipment fit in the nose to a T11 or a standard T22.
Would appreciate thoughts or leads on what the equipment may have been. One thought it may have been recording equipment when she was used as the chase aircraft for the proto S2 Buccaneer but we thought that it would probably been removed along time before that as she has been used for a lot of things since then.

Having made contact with the owners of XH312 earlier this year, it isn’t for sale in any shape or form.
The fire was clearly VERY intense though as it consumed all the metal cockpit fittings (yes honestly!), so anything not too corroded will no doubt be badly heat damaged.
Jon
Do they want a replacement pod I might know to one ??.
