Ariana Afghanistan is starting its operations again from tommorow. First flight is Kabul-Delhi with there B727. Best of luck to them…they are going to need it!! I have also heard Russia is planning to donate 2 TU 154s to Ariana Afghanistan.

Yeah it was an Ariana B727 at EGSS – there was a feature on BBC News about it last year!!

I guess it’s only a matter of time before somebody starts services into Kabul again. I believe the UN are putting an awful lot of money into the country to re-build it. Not sure what state the airport is in so I guess they could start there!
An Ariana DC-10 (I think they only had one!) and 727’s were a familiar sight many years ago at the airports I operated to.
I wish them all the best anyway.
Anybody know if Biman still operate to the UK? I’ve always been facinated with the smaller African and Asian carriers.

sounds pretty bad! was it an ariana afghan 727 that was hijacked and parked on the tar-mac at STN for a couple of days?
