This isn’t really an aeronautical question, but I’ve a feeling that one of the experts here might be able to point me in the right direction.

What was the weather like on the Western Front on November 11 1918?

Many years back I met an old gent who had been a despatch rider in the First World War. He told me how the thump of sporadic gunfire could be heard right up to 11am on November 11, even though they knew the war was all but over. He gave me the impression that it was quite a mild but slightly damp day, with even the odd bit of birdsong to be heard, especially after 11am. But does anyone know where the records might be to confirm that?

I’m lucky enough to have an old aunt who can still remember Novermber 11 1918, and the jubilation on the streets of Birmingham. But as for the weather, thast’s asking a bit too much after 93 years even though she does have all her wits about her!
