I would be grateful if anybody could help identify the year of this air display at Lydd so that accurate information can be added to this image at the Kentphotoarchive website.
From the red and white chequered paint scheme with the narrow red back it seems likely to be after 1963 and before 1977. At this time it was operated by the Tiger Club which was then based at Rochester. The present owner, The Real Aeroplane Company were unable to help.

Air displays at Lydd have not exactly been frequent or regular. The only date that possibly fits is the Easter Air Display on Sunday 6th April 1969.
I was there that day, very hot and sunny, no clouds, John Pothecary was gracious enough to take me for a flight in his Robinson Redwing, G-ABNX.
Here’s some shots of the Active II taken by me a long time ago …

Agree with the upper limit of 1977. At the Strathallan show of ’78 she seems to have a solid red tail and no race number.

I agree with 6 April 1969; the Active definately flew at that show.

Thanks AMB.
The Flight archive entries I have found so far are for a September 1 1968 which actually mentions a Tiger Club display
Also an Easter show in 1970
It would be interesting to see this which refers to the 1968 Easter air show as the second one. So two air shows in 1968 it would seem.
It would seem likely that the Tiger Club, being local to Lydd is likely to have been present at many air shows in this period so will not be possible to establish an exact year.
Thanks for the interest.

Thanks for interest guys.
I have collected all the photos I could find on the internet and whilst it has worn the race number for many years it only seems to have had the red and white chequered scheme (with the slightly narrower red back) between about 1963 and before 1977, from around 1977 onwards the red dorsal stripe was slightly wider and extended along the root of the fin.

G-ABVE has worn the racing number for a long time. Checking with AB, I couldn’t narrow the time scale from 1964 to 1977.

A possible clue is in the race number, can you not check period races?
