The airport has been seized by the National Asset Management Agency because of the default by the owner.

she would make a wonderful exhibit at Elvington. Whats the Jet next to her?

If you mean beside the Catalina, that is a twin Cessna sans props – possible a model 401.

I should imagine if te PBY comes on the market she will be headed Canada or U.S which would be the best result for her.

Most recent picture of the Catalina I could find. Taken after some stormy weather , when it went nose up.

She was back on her wheels a few months ago but close access is not allowed. The best I could manage was a few shots from behind her while balanced on a narrow wall and trying to shoot over the top of the hedge, and some from the far side of the airfield. As far as I can tell the wing(s) are lying beside her.

She really should go to a good home, on Lough Erne or Lough Neagh if at all possible !

I don’t think Pillock is offensive or a swear word, Mike:D

Anon.

I know but she who sometimes has to be obeyed and kept happy was looking over my shoulder at the time.I was thinking more along the lines of Bottom orifice but that would of course be offensive and I would not want to get into trouble.

Seriously though has anyone heard if the Catalina is in the pot of disposals or is it just written off as scrap ???.

If its scrap baggsy me and Annon on the next ferry with some big trailers and his big petrol powered stanley knife :D:D:D:D

How small can you get a Catalina to go on a ferry ??????.I know it wont go in the back of a Landrover and the garden is full of all the other aircraft Oh ****** !!!.

Darling you know you said you fancied a bigger house ???????:diablo::diablo::diablo::diablo:

The Beech is still in excellent condition. It’s been hangared and looked after but not flown. It would appear its logbooks are now missing. Maybe next year will see her back in the air with a new owner.

As there is no mention of the Catalina I assume its not up for auction that could mean it belongs to someone else or it has already been sold off to someone but its a big beast to try to move if its in poor shape.

The Catalina is still clearly visible on Google maps on the south end of the airfeild, still in pieces.

I’ve sent a message asking about the Catalina.

Wonder what’s going to happen to the Catalina? Was pretty sorry looking a few months ago…

Very nice Southern Comfort I have not seen her in the air for many years she used to come into Barton on a regular basis for her maintenance. According to G-INFO she hasnt flown since she went there in 2005 and doesnt have a current permit. If she hasnt been treated properly I dont suppose she will be worth much,a shame wish I had my numbers up I would put a bid in I dont think the wife would like me sending a dear Santa letter (Again)
