I’m still waiting for a caption – or even some reaction – to my 11th photo! Take another look at it and see if you notice something strange there!

Papa Lima….
amazing shots – 1000 thanks for posting these. Just saw them while preparing a BBQ (am tasting the beer right now 😀 😀 😀 ).
Since I am on a dial-up connection at my girlfriends place, I don’t have my working-tools (i.e. database, etc) with me. Will revert with as much info on each ship as possible next Tuesday.
NB: sure thing I am pursuing Jane for you… 😉
Also thanks to all others who have provided more photographs of “my” beloved Mustang.
Cheers
Martin / Swiss Mustangs
(beer tastes great – Tuborg – can’t wait for my Summer vacation I will spend in Denmark) 😎 😎 😎

Dakota Kid II
I am not sure that the Dakota Kid II that I photographed is the same aircraft as the one Chad Veich says – here is a detail from my photo and one of N151HR from almost the same angle (from the Mustang Survivors List web site).

“snapped again” Is that you on the cowling Papa Lima? And please tell me, who’s or what is the plane in photos 9 & 10 (Red 9)?
This is a P-51D belonging to the Leeward family which is often raced at Reno.

“Go on Ant, have a guess”
Would it possibly,just possibly be the beautiful,wonderous,most magnificent…Ferocious Frankie?? :p :p
Seriously,I take the hint. Were you on board per chance??
No not guilty this time, I took the 172 into North Weald, where more by luck than judgement met Janie in the circuit at the same time. The Mustang had been down to a display at Aldbourne prior to attending Aerofair.

On the subject of Mustangs, does anyone know which Mustang was flying in the vicinity of St Albans,Herts, last Sunday morning?I was standing in my brother’s back garden and it went directly overhead at 1,000ft+,which coupled with the very bright, glarey conditions meant that I coudn’t make out any markings. The sound and the sillhouette were unmistakeable though!

I see a scaled down Mustang replica and a “follow me” moped. 🙂 The airplane doesn’t look like it has enough prop to even get it moving, much less fly it!

Sorry, Mike, it must have been someone else – I blush to say that I haven’t heard of those books before!
I’ll be there again this year, last year was my first visit to both the USA and Oshkosh – it incredible to see 11,000 aircraft all in one place! I took 550 photos and could easily have taken twice as many!
The last two Tuskegee photos were taken way down at the end of the runway where there were no people at all, and seconds before torrential rain, on the 4th day that I was there, when the warbirds didn’t take off but turned round and scuttled back. I sheltered under a handily positioned DC-3.

Papa- Lima,
I think I met you at Oshkosh…aren’t you the guy who was talking to Dennis Bergstrom on the benches in front of EAA Warbird HQ one day? I was sitting right beside you while you were talking to Dennis…he said you’ve purchased every copy of his yearly book ‘Gallant Warriors’ since it came out….or maybe I have the wrong person?
Nice shots of the Tuskegee P-51B, she was at center ice the whole time I was there and I never got any in flight shots of her…but did get the Boeing 307 when all the other photogs were in a meeting and missed her….it was a great time, doubt I’ll be there again this year, but some other time.
Mark
