ASTOVL confusion

I’ve seen so many ASTOVL/VSTOL concepts in various media that I’m really confused. I’ve noted some questions posted on this forum as well, especially concerning wind tunnel models shown on a NASA site. I came across a Flight Journal, June 2003, which included a “Wheel of Misfortune” illustration of numerous VTOL variations that didn’t make it. On the bottom of this wheel, shown below, are small line drawings of HATOL concepts.
-To the far left in the illustration is GD’s sneaky pete-which is the same as the NASA wind tunnel model that was painted in white, and is the second posted picture.
-Next on the left is Northrop’s HATOL-which is the same as the NASA wind tunnel model that was painted blue, and is the third posted picture.
-Next is the Grumman HATOL -which is the fourth posted picture
– Ignoring the Bell X-14, the next HATOL is MDD’s which is also known as the model 279 and has been posted on this forum before.

Sorry But I don’t have pictures of the NASA wind tunnel models referenced above.
