Does anyone know what type of Boeing 737 Astreaus operates?
I thought it was the -300 series, but I saw one of their 737 aircraft at LGW earlier today sporting a couple of rather nice looking winglets, which made me wonder if it was indeed the -300 series type a/c or perhaps a different type?
Can winglets be fitted to any series of the Boeing 737 type aircraft?
If so, which ones can have them? I have always assumed that they were only fitted to the NG series!

Tomsonflys Wingleted 737-300
Thomsonfly Boeing 737-300 G-THOO is one of the first to appear on British registered 737.
The winglets were done before the aircraft was delivered to Tomsonfly and adds two and a half metres to the wing span.
At some airports this aircraft might not fit onto a stand for a normal 737.
Unless one knows from an airports point of view by the hanling agent tell you this it could catch some airports out.

Generally, NG 737s have had winglets retrofitted, but they are now appearing on some classics (300-500s). I think Continental are in the process of enhancing some of their classic fleet with them.

AEU do operate 2 737-700s both of which are now fitted with winglets (1 at MAN and 1 at LGW), and 2 737-300s both of which are based in GOT flying for our partner airline Sterling.
