Something I’ve always wondered and it is the same right across the museum and heritage industry but can anyone give me a good indication of what is currently considered to be the cut off between a restoration of an airframe and what is actually a replica?
Would for example 5% of an old airframe be enough to be a rebuild or would a couple of wheel legs and a tail with serial number be sufficient.

In most cases the original data plate present or not is the only difference. There are many aircraft flying today with very few original parts but I doubt they would be called replicas.
