Arena (countermeasure) T-80/90/Amata vs Javelin/Hellfire/TOW

No need to say more, we know that 2 T-80/90 tanks have armor ERA and APS system the best in the world (RHA their parameters just behind the M1 Abrams, Challenger and Leopard 2A6).
This is what I have found out about the possibility of T-80 against ATGM of America, by APS Arena-E 😎

MMW radar system can detect the missile from 50m, protect tanks within 360 degrees, radar scan up to 65 degrees elevation. Fired from 25m to T-80, equipped with 3 grams heavier cluster munitions in the interceptor launcher tube 107mm. Can intercept targets speeds up to 700m / s, time to detect and destroy target is 0.07 s

Additional: Arena weighs about 1.100kg, when active, it requires far infantry tanks to avoid an area of about 30m around safely. Arena System range offers protection around the tank about 50m

Shtora-1 has three methods of operation: fully automatic, semiautomatic/target designation, and manual and emergency mode. According to the manufacturer, the system reduces the hit probability by the following factors: TOW and Dragon, Maverick, Hellfire, and Copperhead laser seeker systems by a factor of 4-5:1; MILAN and HOT by 3:1; Artillery and tank projectiles fired from systems with laser rangefinders by 3:1.1
A very good article published by FAS on the topic of Active Protection Systems they talked some stuff about the Shtora-1 system and the Arena. Notice the date of the article published in 1998, the new Arena system today is likely to be a whole lot better.
Anyways, it is a good read.

Unless you’re familiar with the armor specs for the Merkava 4, K2, Arjun Mk2, Type 99 etc, your statement has only your confidence going for it.
Its an interesting topic though, especially if we introduce to the topic, air deployed weapons such as the Brimstone, Maverick, AASM or SDB-II who’s effectiveness gets taken for granted.

Very interesting. Means a gun is actually the best system to use against these tanks again. Or a very fast missile that can strike inside the reaction time of the system. Or perhaps just a dog with a couple pounds of semtex and a bit of training 😉

Jesus H. Christ on a bike… how the hell did you find these topics?
It is clear Russian weapons are the best in the world because are based on pure MAGIC with pixy dust.

Arena APS of course can resist most anti-tank missile fired directly, as TOW, AT-4 ….Also Javelin can only attack the target with 45 degrees or less – Top-attack ad is not true.

T-90MS also has a vertical cavity bullet launcher against ATGM missile fired from the gunship

With Hellfire (except L version uses infrared-guided mode), most other versions use laser guide. Therefore Arena again remove the power of the Hellfire, when using laser warning mode interference by smoke, could even automatically rotate the barrel of the cannon to destroy targets in ATGM 9M119 Refleks, with Hellfire missiles L if fired from AH-64, Arena will use chaff equipped with T-90 tanks on to fool it.
