"Aus Hapag-Lloyd Flug wird Hapagfly"

Just saw a Hapag-Lloyd 737-800 land outside my office window, and noticed a small white text behind the titles: “http://www.hapagfly.com“.

Checked it up and found out that apparently, Hapag-Lloyd Flug has renamed itself to HapagFly!

What the hell is wrong with the leisure travel business? Everyone changes name every week, the liveries are designed by blind illiterates and all operators try to create the most dreadful looks ever, just to get attention.

I’ve had it…

Now our friends in Germany can really see the mess that TUI have created. 1st they got rid of the Britannia livery, then the name. Now they are doing the same in their own back yard. Destroying brand recognition and 2 once proud airlines.

You may not like the branding, but it clearly works…from the FT recently…

The sun shines on Tui shares.

Shares in Tui, Europe’s biggest tourism group, were the best performers among German blue chips yesterday, thanks to forecast-beating results for the year to December.

Michael Frenzel, chief executive, said operating profits doubled to €489.5m ($640.7m). For 2005, profits from its core holidays business – accounting for nearly 60 per cent of the group total – should grow at a double-digit percentage rate, though shipping growth would be more modest.

Because this thread is about the name Hapag Lloyd being dropped for Hapagfly!

That might be the case but Hapag-Lloyd Express are now known as HLX.COM. As depicted on their revised livery that is being painted on to their aircraft.

Why would they change Hapag-Lloyd Express, it still features the Hapag Lloyd Name.

Will be interesting to see what happens to Hapag Lloyd Express, cant really see them getting rid of the ‘taxi’ with all the fuss they make out of it.

The same colours are already on the TomFly 737s.

This was always going to happen – TUi want to make everything under one name and the same colours to save money.

I can understand having a unified brand, but even so all the airline names are still different!
