Aussie Mustang on sale …

News i guess for interested Mustang fighter enthusos – an Australian based Mustang is going on sale and “cheap” – just listed this afternoon at http://www.platinumfighters.com/#!p-51d-vh-fst/cjem

If this is sold overseas it will leave around 6 flyable or under repair Mustangs left i recall, with a few other restoration projects on the go.

?

Always find the description of ‘stock’ amusing when you see 1990’s radios – high pressure oxygen and fold forward seat !

Again little substance in the opening post. The aircraft will need a tare down as there is also a fuselage twist and possible shock loading of the engine. So while being ‘cheap’ it will also need a rebuild. Having seen the aircraft personally I can attest to the damage and speaking to someone first hand. Sad as its a beautiful aircraft in the flesh.

Also disclosed is damage/need of paint to flap ,aileron and left wingtip. look like the aftermath of a ground loop to me.

The advert advises 1.9 since overhaul on the prop.

That doesn’t make sense -does it mean its flown 1.9 hrs since having a prop strike?

on sale and “cheap”

The reason:

“Aircraft suffered a prop strike – 1.9 hrs ago.
Buyer to determine serviceability of engine”

I’m not so sure that this is “cheap” at the moment. Rather more a realistic price in today’s climate. The days of 51s going for $2.000.000 or close are not there right now.
